Little Village Support Group aims to bring together single women with a common focus on parenting. We welcome women at any stage of their parenting journey including those who are considering parenthood, currently pregnant, new to parenting or an experienced single parent.
Beginning with a positive vision of supported parenting and facilitated by an experienced counsellor from Fertile Ground Health Group, Little Village will provide a place of welcome for single women to share their stories, exchange ideas, establish friendships and develop support networks.
Our facilitator Suzanne Hurley has worked for the past five years as a counsellor at the Royal Women's Hospital and joined FGHG in 2009. Suzanne's work encompasses the broad spectrum of women's experiences from unplanned pregnancy to parenting, fertility challenges and pregnancy loss. Suzanne has sought out group work theory and practice as an area of special interest throughout her studies. She has facilitated groups at the Gay and Lesbian Switchboard and WIRE (the Women's Information and Referral Exchange). She is excited to offer this group and has long seen the need for support of this kind.
Suzanne has completed her Masters in Counselling at La Trobe University in 2010, PEEFT in 2008 as well as a Graduate Diploma in Counselling. Sanctuary is a support group for women undergoing IVF care. A sharing circle in a relaxed and informal setting facilitated by an experienced counsellor from Fertile Ground Health Group.
This group will embrace the emotional aspect of undergoing IVF treatment and provide the opportunity to be with others on a similar journey. Feel supported, make a friend or two, shed a tear and know you are not alone. Come along to share with other women the good, the bad and the unavoidable of the IVF experience.
