At Fertile Ground, our aim is to improve the general and reproductive health of both men and women. While our Practitioners have a special interest and skill in the areas of fertility and pregnancy care they are extremely skilled general health practitioners as well.
An inherent part of specialising in this area is helping people to become as healthy as they can possibly be. Usually that means working through a range of issues that may be affecting their health - from stress, fatigue and sleep issues through to hormonal, digestive, urinary, cardiovascular, respiratory and skin problems. After your health goals have been realised, we can provide you with ongoing support for your general health and wellbeing.
You don't have to be
pregnant or trying to conceive, and you certainly don’t have to be sick or experiencing health problems to consider a consultation at Fertile Ground. Our approach is preventative - we ideally want to see you before big problems arise. One of the great skills of natural medicine practitioners is the capacity to
recognise
dietary, health and lifestyle factors that while only affecting your life in small ways now, could affect you more seriously later on. Identifying and treating these issues and proactively maintaining your health means you get more healthy enjoyment of life now and less problems associated with stress, aging, poor lifestyle and nutrition as you get older.
Many of the men and women who undertake preconception care or fertility treatment are inspired by the improvements or success they have experienced and continue on with Fertile Ground to address ongoing general health needs. We often become the first point of contact for the health concerns of the whole family - mum, dad, kids, grandparents, aunts, uncles ...
If you feel stressed, fatigued or anxious, have headaches, hayfever or digestive problems, or just experience ongoing niggling health concerns, your general health needs attention.
You can:
- Create opportunities for relaxation and de-stress with a regular Massage.
- Address your health, weight, nutritional and lifestyle concerns by speaking with a Naturopath.
- Find new energy in an Acupuncture consultation.
- Stretch, straighten and realign your body with Osteopathy.
- Talk through personal concerns with our Counsellor.
And so much more ...

Women have special health needs that change with age. At Fertile Ground, our Practitioners are experienced in helping women to improve and manage their health through every stage of the lifecycle.
A woman experiences significant phases of hormonal change from adolescence, through pregnancy and motherhood and into menopause and older age. These changes influence not only her menstrual cycle, but her general health as well and may herald changes in nutritional needs, physical ability and susceptibility to illness or disease.
Adolescents
Young women have significantly different nutritional needs and may experience quite different symptoms to a woman in her thirties or fifties. Ensuring an adolescent's nutritional needs are met and hormonal balance is optimised helps with problems she may be experiencing including period pain, skin, weight or mood changes and ensure healthy bones for later in life.
Young women
A woman in her twenties or thirties may need help with stabilising hormones, optimising fertility and preparing for pregnancy. Issues she has struggled with for a long time may need attention, including period pain, weight issues, changing diet and nutritional needs or emotional problems. It is also a time when women become more aware of hereditary factors that could potentially affect their health in later life (or their children's health) including bone density, diabetes, cardiovascular disease and obesity. Addressing the lifestyle factors that contribute to these conditions is a step toward greater longevity and better quality of life now and in older age.
Older women
Natural medicine is also appropriate for older women. Menopause signals a new phase of changes for women and any symptoms can be successfully managed for many women using natural remedies. Women may also start to "feel their age" with the beginning of niggling problems that may worsen as they age if left untreated. Arthritis, fitness, energy, emotional stability, memory / concentration and weight changes are common areas of change among older women and can be supported with the help of an experienced natural medicine practitioner.
Our experienced and caring practitioners take a special interest in women's health and can assist with diverse general and special health concerns including:
- Skin problems
- Stress, emotional instability, depression and anxiety
- Digestive problems and weight management
- Fitness and cardiovascular health
- Menstrual changes (including menarche and menopause)
- Period pain
- Irregular cycles
- Fertility problems (including PCOS, endometriosis, fibroids and hormonal imbalances)
- Musculoskeletal pain or injuries
- Diabetes and blood sugar regulation
- High cholesterol
- Osteoporosis
Whether yours is a health issue of lifestyle, inheritance, age or environment, our practitioners will individually tailor a program to ensure you achieve your maximum health potential.
Understanding fertility
Our bodies give us clear and unmistakable signs to indicate the fertile and infertile phases of our cycle. Our Practitioners can assist you to predict ovulation and time conception accurately by helping you understand mucus changes, temperature charts, the rhythm of your cycle and other signs. Learning to recognise natural signs of fertility is empowering for every woman and provides an effective method to avoid or achieve conception, which can be successfully used through all stages of life.
There are many benefits to understanding what is normal in your cycle and knowing how your body works. Charting the signs gives you and your practitioner a tool to see clearly how your treatment is working for you.
Menstrual cycle irregularities
Menstrual and reproductive health problems such as PMT, painful periods, light or absent periods, heavy bleeding, endometriosis, ovarian cysts and PCOS, fibroids and other hormonal imbalances can be effectively and safely treated, partially or completely, with natural medicine and self help measures.
