Birth Attendant

Having a baby is one of the most natural and joyous experiences of life. Yet it can also feel daunting to say the least. A birth attendant, or doula, is someone who provides emotional and physical support to couples or single women before and during labour. Prior to going into labour your doula will discuss in detail all the factors you need to understand to enhance your birth experience. Understanding your hopes for your birth will help her support you to achieve a satisfying birth experience. Your birth attendant aims to support both you and your partner, so he or she is never left out, rather they most often feel more included and clearer about what they can offer.

    Fiona is a qualified Naturopath, Massage Therapist and Birth Attendant with over 25 years experience.

    She has two beautiful children and has been working with FGHG for more than 14 years.

    She has completed studies in a wide range of massage techniques including Swedish and relaxation massage, traditional Thai massage and Auyevedic massage. She combines her skills to give the best possible massage for everyone. Fiona is highly experienced in pregnancy massage and birth preparation and is thoroughly enjoying adding fertility massage to her suite of sought after skills.  

    As a qualified Birth Attendant, having trained with Rhea Dempsey for many years, Fiona also provides remedial massage, reiki and homeopathic support during labour.

    Fiona has attended more than a 100 births and is able to combine her skills and knowledge to support and enhance you and your families birth experience. Fiona believes in supporting people and their families to have the best possible birth experience regardless of how or where you deliver your baby.
