Remedial & Pregnancy Massage Therapist
Reina is originally from Japan and has been working as a qualified Remedial Massage therapist in Melbourne for the past eight years. She is experienced in the practice of Shiatsu Massage, incorporating its principles and techniques into modern Western clinical massage practice.
Through further study specialising in massage and pregnancy, Reina became interested in how a woman’s physical and mental wellbeing affect each other. Reina is passionate about supporting women as they move through fertility, pregnancy and postnatal stages.
While the Western approach to remedial massage focuses on the muscles, the fascia and the joints, Shiatsu helps to connect the mind and body to support the body’s natural healing systems. By addressing the emotional dimension of physical conditions, Shiatsu can help treat sleep problems, anxiety, stress, digestion issues, fertility, fatigue, and wellbeing issues. Where appropriate, Reina can sense and treat emotional distress within the body that is manifest in muscular tension, misalignment and stagnated and weak meridians, using gentle flowing massage and acupressure.
Reina is also an accredited yoga instructor, which gives her a deeper understanding of the human body and a more holistic approach to health and wellbeing. As a mother herself, Reina is especially passionate about the way massage can support women with their fertility, throughout pregnancy, and in the postnatal stage.
