Massage has an important role to play as part of your pregnancy health and wellbeing strategy.

Pre-natal/Pregnancy massage has an important role to play as part of your pregnancy support strategy. Pregnant women often suffer from neck, shoulder, back, hip and foot pain due to hormonal changes and the increasing physical load.

Pregnancy massage helps to alleviate tension and pain, relieves headaches, leg cramps, insomnia, fluid retention, stress and fatigue.

We use specially designed massage tables which allow you to lie safely and comfortably on your belly and back until full term.

Massage can also help you to prepare for labour:
  • In the last few weeks of your pregnancy, it is ideal for you to be massaged as often as possible. Massage will help you to feel more comfortable in your body, improve your sleep and energy – something you definitely need before going into labour and birthing your baby!
  • Massage will also teach you good relaxation strategies for your labour as it is essential that you relax in-between contractions, letting go of as much tension as possible, so that you are ready for the next one.
  • Our Massage Therapists are uniquely trained in Induction Massage. Our practitioners are skilled at using acupressure points, relaxation techniques and essential oils application to facilitate labour if you are facing (possibly early) medical induction, are keen to go into labour as soon as possible or are overdue for dates.

Induction Massage is a relaxation massage combined with specially chosen essential oils and acupressure applied to specific points of the body related to the preparation of the body for labour.

A good relaxation induction massage can help elevate your natural levels of oxytocin (the hormone your body naturally produces when relaxed and happy, in love, making love, when you are ready to birth your baby and is the hormone responsible for the intense bonding with your baby immediately following birth). Deep relaxation is important to allow natural stress hormones to reduce and natural ‘birth ready’ hormones to increase.

The stimulation of acupressure points during your induction massage can assist in supporting natural body processes that are underway during the final stages of pregnancy such as encouraging the descent of the baby into position, dilation of the cervix and facilitation of uterine contractions.

Induction acupuncture is also an option at this time. Many women choose both induction massage and acupuncture.

You can be confident that our experienced, professional and caring massage practitioners see pregnant and post-natal women, people with fertility/reproductive issues, and babies and children as part of their daily practice.

And after you’ve had your baby you can come back for a restorative Mother Roasting treatment to help you deeply relax and recover from your first few weeks as a new mum. Read more about Mother Roasting here. Link to Mother Roasting in “I Have A Child
