She is the founding director of Fertile Ground Health Group, co-creator of the Be Fertile relaxation CD series and co-author of The Breakfast Project, among other health inspired projects. Her greatest gift and inspiration is making health, wellbeing, and passionate living accessible, inspiring and achievable for everyone.

Through her own health crisis at 34 years old (a shocking and life-threatening diagnosis of acute leukaemia in 2010) Charmaine experienced first-hand immersion into the medical system.  This transformative, life-affirming, challenging time has refocused and reinvigorated her drive for good health and living life to its fullest. Undoubtedly this experience has deepened her passion for collaborative health care.

Charmaine’s naturopathic career has followed a special interest in working with couples with infertility requiring IVF support since 1999.  She has assisted many in realising their dreams to conceive healthy, beautiful babies in collaboration with GPs and fertility specialists, acupuncturists and other health modalities. Since her own cancer experience, she can see the gaping need for more collaboration between natural and medical oncology approaches, and she is looking forward to working with more patients who need support for wellness and advocacy through their own cancer journey.

As well as mentoring and supervising students, naturopaths and other practitioners at Fertile Ground Health Group, Charmaine is running retreats and workshops for practitioners to support their business and personal development.

Biography

Peter became interested in Chinese medicine in the mid-1990s after a shoulder injury that had been resistant to treatment was finally relieved with acupuncture. This eventually led him from his original career as a musician/teacher to becoming the renowned and highly qualified practitioner that he is today. He has completed internships at The National Hospital of Traditional Medicine (Hanoi, Vietnam) and The Jiangsu Provincial Hospital of Chinese Medicine. He has been with FGHG since 2009.

Since 2009, Peter has studied under the mentorship of Dr Arnaud Versluys (Director of The Institute of East Asian Medicine), a world-renowned expert on the practical modern-day use of Classical Herbal Medicine, where the focus is on understanding how the body maintains a dynamic balance within a forever changing external environment, and what happens when this balance is lost.

All of Peter’s treatments are aimed at re-establishing harmony between the body’s internal regulatory systems so that the body can function to its fullest potential within the frantic modern world in which we live. He particularly loves treating conditions where this balance has been lost, whether it is hormonal (e.g. PMS, irregular cycles, infertility), immune (e.g. Chronic Fatigue, Fibromyalgia, recurrent infections), metabolic (e.g. blood sugar imbalance, thyroid) or digestive (e.g. bloating, indigestion, bowel issues), where a Classical Chinese medicine approach can have profound results.

“Being our healthiest allows us to achieve our goals more easily, enjoy our passions to the fullest and lead the lives we wish for ourselves. I passionately believe in the potential of Classical Chinese Medicine to identify disharmony and help us regain balance.”

Amy graduated with distinction from RMIT’s double degree in Chinese Medicine and Human Biology. She spent two years administering acupuncture in the ED of a Melbourne hospital. Amy enjoys working with every aspect of health and disease. She is comfortable treating all aspects of women’s health including period problems, cycle irregularities, preconception, fertility and pregnancy care.

Amy recognises that true health is so much deeper than any of those titles – how anxiety, insomnia, digestive and sleep disorders can hop along for the ride when lovely women are grappling with issues surrounding their cycles, fertility and pregnancy.

“My inspiration and satisfaction in naturopathic practice comes from supporting a family’s potential to thrive. It’s the little wins that form the basis of lifetime choices! Taking an approach to life that is based on prevention of illness first, or treatment when needed; using foods, natural medicines and healthy lifestyle choices that allow us to be the best we can be. To understand our individual constitution allows us to build a jigsaw- piece by piece; as the baby is able to thrive by feeding and settling with ease, a child is more able to play and dream as their immunity is strengthened, a teenager is energised by a balanced physical and mental state – these are the small wins that connect people and make family life joyful.” Sarah Harris, Naturopath.

She has a special interest in treating women who are pregnant, experiencing menstrual pain and couples who are trying to conceive.

Michelle’s interest in women’s health started when she completed her studies in Pregnancy Massage, looking at the various changes a woman’s body goes through during pregnancy was fascinating to Michelle. This brought her curiosity to Fertility Massage as she felt it would really expand and assist her understanding of the female reproductive system. Michelle knows how a misaligned uterus can affect a woman’s ability to conceive and the pressure it can put on a woman when she menstruates. She learnt how to support women with their reproductive and digestive health by using techniques that combine massage, breathing, visualisations and the rebozo to get results. She herself has witnessed the results first hand by naturally resolving her own debilitating period pain through what she has learnt throughout her journey.

As a doula Michelle believes in the body’s natural ability to birth, however she still has respect for medicine when it is necessary. She has a deep passion for women to make informed decisions and decisions that feel right for them when it comes to the birth of their baby. She loves to educate and support couples so that they can walk away happy with their birthing experience.

Michelle utilises all her knowledge, skills and past experiences to determine the best treatment for all her patients. She understands that everyone has different influences and demands in their life and finds that not all techniques and advice work for everyone, which is why she develops a treatment plan that best suits an individual’s needs. There’s nothing that makes Michelle happier than knowing that she has helped someone to achieve their desired outcome for their health and wellbeing.

Suzanne’s approach to counselling:

What I believe…

I firmly believe compassionate, early counselling intervention for all reproductive trauma events, including unbiased abortion support will establish parents both today and in the future with the best possible outcomes for managing the unexpected realities if they do, when they do and during having their babies. This can be done kicking and screaming or it can be done with honour, good humour and grace. You get to choose.

What I do…

I have a unique breadth of experience and now specialise across the full spectrum of fertility matters and associated losses in supporting women and their families. This can include unplanned pregnancy and unbiased, decision-making counselling, abortion support, pregnancy issues, infertility & IVF, birth trauma, antenatal and postnatal anxiety and or depression, hysterectomy & health- related reproductive matters. Nothing holds greater value than another because in my world it all matters.

Where I have come from…

My passion and commitment arose out of 15 years combined practice with Pregnancy Advisory Service at the Women’s Hospital in Melbourne, Marie Stopes National Counselling Team, PANDA (Perinatal Anxiety and Depression Australia) National Helpline & at Carrington Health’s Community Outreach Perinatal Support Service. This was all very unplanned on my behalf and I feel this work found me. I had to earn the privilege and honour of doing what I do.

How might my expertise benefit you…

I have gained such a wealth of knowledge about sitting with the discomfort of life’s challenges, particularly in the perinatal realm and the grief this may evoke. In the counseling room I sit solidly by your side whilst you feel the big emotions and gently guide you toward greater comfort and peace in reconciling with such harsh realities. You will no longer be alone because you have taken that step to ask for help and I know how courageous that feels.

My lived experience…

I cannot support you if I have not felt what it takes to reach out myself. I have been in the uncertainty of vulnerability and had to do it anyway. It is not easy and I hold great compassion and awe at what is revealed to me and sometimes to only me. I know that I must earn your trust and cannot be further ahead of you in meeting your needs. It is why I am by your side, with you, completely.

Suzanne is available for face to face, phone and skype consultations.

Biography

Georgie is a qualified Remedial and Pregnancy Massage Therapist, Pilates Instructor and soon to be Nutritionist. She has expressed a strong interest in fertility for the past 10 years and understands that there are multiple factors that contribute to an individual’s reproductive health. During such a pinnacle point in a female’s life, she believes it’s imperative to be supported and nurtured and with a strong passion for the musculoskeletal system she will strive to support you in creating a state for optimal movement.

A typical consultation will explore common tension that may arise during pregnancy, discuss your unique physical presentation and with a remedial or relaxing approach, concentrate on releasing areas of discomfort whilst improving your body’s circulation.

Georgie thrives on seeing results and treating you in a holistic manner, discussing external contributing factors and further empowering you to self-treat when the chaos of life takes over and you’re unable to reach out for a treatment.

Bubbly, warm and empathetic, Georgie’s willingness to give her undivided attention is born from a deep care for her patients.
